DHL’s corporate mission is to connect people and improve lives.

As the Official Logistics Partner of Rugby World Cup 2019, DHL wanted to leverage the sponsorship to give back to the sport and connect employees globally. Race to RWC was born – a philanthropic initiative created to raise awareness and €50k for World Rugby’s official charity ChildFund Pass It Back. DHL’s challenge was to how to make the concept a reality.

Race to Rugby World Cup was a truly epic undertaking that only DHL could deliver.

Adventurers Ron Rutland and James Owens cycled 20,093km over 231 days through 27 countries, from London to Tokyo to deliver the opening match whistle. DHL provided essential support crew and services, and tracked and documented the journey via film crews and Go Pros raising awareness. Welcome parties, funding raising events and celebrations inspired and united people and DHL employees at every stop.

Race to RWC was special activation raising over €120k for charity. With international coverage in 200+ media outlets including CNN and BBC, it captured the hearts and minds of everyone it touched.
