As Official Logistics Partner of Formula 1®, DHL’s problem solving skills were put to the ultimate test in 2020.

In the midst of a global pandemic with no racing, no travel and no human contact, the brand had a challenge on their hands – how could they continue to put fans at the heart of the action? What fans didn’t realise is behind the scenes DHL logistics experts were developing a mastermind plan to get the Formula 1 show back on the road.

DHL reacted quickly on both a logistical and communications front, adapting their plans around unpredictable racing.

Equipping their logistics experts with GoPros, fans were able to see the human face and stories behind the extraordinary challenges DHL faced in delivering the first race. In addition DHL delivered simulators to driver homes for the Virtual GP series and rewarded drivers and fans at home for recording the Fastest Laps. And they put fans at the centre of the sport’s 70th anniversary celebrations, by printing fan photos and messages onto 60m x 40m billboard that appeared on the live broadcast during the Silverstone race.

Overall a logistical triumph where DHL businesses came together to support both Formula 1® and over 13m fans during a crisis.
